A Brief History of Columbine

This area was originally part of the Columbine Homestead filed in 1911. Ownership changed and the property was subdivided to form Poudre Park in 1919. It was again in its entirety sold in 1923 to the Columbine Ranch Company. The subdivision of the land resulted in the formation of three resorts, a school, a sawmill, fire station, and a church, as well as 87 residencies. Of the three resorts, only Columbine Lodge is still in operation.

Originally named "Columbine Camp", it consisted of a grocery store, five small rental cabins, a campground, and rental horses for hire. Built by Fort Collins grocer, Archie P. Jordan in 1928, naming it after Columbine Ranch. Ownership changed numerous times (8) until current owner Mike Jensen (the 9th owner) took possession of it in 2007.

The property now consists of eight small cabins and eight mobiles, a small grocery store and gallery, and campground between the cabins and the Poudre River.
